Coronavirus pandemic

How the Coronavirus pandemic is affecting fundraising

The current global health emergency is affecting the charity sector, just like it is most other industry sectors. In the UK for example, charities expect to lose around £4bn this year.

Many organisations and individuals are providing advice to fundraisers about how to go about their work during these difficult times.

So Rogare does not wish to add to the practical advice that is already available to fundraisers. However, having consulted members of our Critical Fundraising Network, we have identified four projects that we can do that we think will be of genuine help to fundraisers and, more importantly, are the types of projects that we would normally do.

These four projects are:

  1. Ethics of legacy fundraising during emergencies

  2. Fundraising during economic emergencies – collating and assessing existing research and evidence

  3. Arguments against fundraising in the Pandemic and how to respond to them

  4. Critical reflections on how the Covid-19 Pandemic might change fundraising.

Ethics of legacy fundraising…

…during health

Fundraising during economic hardship

Collating and assessing existent research

Advocating fundraising…

…in response to objections it should not be going ahead

How will fundraising change?

Critical reflections on challenges presented by the pandemic
